Rap Beats Maker: DUBturbo

in Hip Hop Beat Maker

Are you interested in jumping into the world of beat making with the right software? Have you been looking around online trying to find a quality program that will not burn a hole in your pocket but has everything you need in order to produce phat beats? I was personally in the market for a rap beats maker that had a few vital components; an easy to use layout that would enable me to start using the software immediately, the ability to tap out beats on my keyboard, and an import function for importing samples into the program. Luckily I was able to find just the right product and it goes by the name of DUBturbo.

I was actually really impressed with the level of detail and thought put into this product. I was also happy to find out that the person behind the software, DJ Norb, has been involved in the music business and web design as well. Therefore, I felt fairly confident that he had put some time and effort into this program. Turns out he has created the ultimate beat making software for the beginner, and has included everything you will need to put together some original beats.

Whenever you are compiling a new beat you will need some essential tools in your arsenal. The drum machine is the foundation and base for any serious beat builder and with this software you will be able to use a simple but potent one. There are nine pads, similar to the traditional MPC’s that are assigned a different sound. You can use your mouse to click in the notes, or hit record and type or bang in the notes with your number keys on your keyboard. If you are a more tactile person then using your keys as pads will likely make the process that much more satisfying and really bring out the creative juices.

Once you have inserted some notes you can go back and do any readjusting, in case you missed any notes or they landed in the wrong place. Trust me that while learning this software and even after you have mastered it, you will need to realign certain notes.

A keyboard is another critical part of crafting any beats. If you don’t already own your own, then do not worry because this program comes with a built in virtual keyboard, and plenty of samples to boot. Similar to the drum machine all you have to do is choose one of the hundreds of sound kits and then start testing them out. You can even switch up the kits after you have laid down some notes. There are all kinds of cool sounding piano sounds, quirky riffs and many others.

Of course you will also need a Sequencer to tie all of the music together. With this tool you can arrange your song exactly how you want it. Move around or erase any bars, or even duplicate some bars to stretch throughout the song. Each bar can have its volume adjusted as well. Once you are done with a beat you can then save it in either MP3 or WAV file format, depending on how you plan on using the beat. Many similarly priced beat makers do not offer the option to export to WAV, a necessity if you want to send your beats to a professional studio or burn it onto a CD.

There is little risk at giving this software a shot, because it is only a one-time cost of $29.95 and has a sixty day refund policy. However, if you purchase it and really dig into the product you will find that it will stand up to the test.
